William H. Shank Sr was born August 29, 1924 in Big Springs, Texas. As a young man he enjoyed riding motorcycles. He served in three branches of military service: US Army, Merchant Marines, and US Navy. In his later life, he was a person who cared for abandoned injured animals, feeding them and finding homes for them. He was survived by his wife Irene of Weatherford; grandchildren Deborah James and William H. Shank III; and one great grandchild, Courtney James.
