Everett Earl Applegate was born to Martin and Emma Girton Applegate on a farm near Pittsfield, Ill., Aug. 12, 1885. He lived there until 1905 when he moved to a farm near Crete. In 1907 he attended the Normal School at Peru, where he met and married Desta Allgood in 1909. To this union ten children were born. One son, Stacy, was killed in action in Worid War II. Surviving are his wife, Desta, of Peru; nine children: Mrs. Carl Adams, Mrs. Clyde Allgood, Mrs. Frank Hays, Mrs. James Magnall, Mrs. Charles Henning, Earl and
Marion, all of Peru; Robert of Superior, and Sidney of Glenrock, Wyo. He also leaves 34 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Titus of Crawford and Amy Applegate of Chicago Heights, Ill.; one brother, Joy, of Wathena, Kans., many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to one son, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Johnson and Miss Goldie Applegate, and one brother, Sherman Applegate. He has been a member of the Peru Christian Church for fifty years. Funeral services were held Sept. 22 at the Peru Christian Church, conducted by Rev. J. Wilfred Carter and Rev. Ward Merritt. Mrs. Darrell Wininger was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Clyde Duerfeldt. Pallbearers were Fred Applegate, Eldon Allgood, Boyd Coatney, Darrell Allgood, Martin Allgood and Marshall Adams. Mrs Ellen Eberhart, Mrs. Maggie Wright and Mrs. Joe Polston were in charge of flowers. Burial was in Mt. Vemon Cemetery at Peru with Caseys in charge. AUBURN (Neb.)
