Mr. James Walter Monzingo Sr.
Haynesville, LA.- Funeral services for Mr. James Walter Monzingo Sr. aged 79 of Haynesville, LA will be held Monday, October 11, 1999 at 2p.m. in the Ruple Baptist Church with the Rev's Rusty Gilbert and Jerry Gill officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitehall Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.
Mr. Monzingo died Saturday, October 9, 1999 after a brief illness in his residence.
Visitation will be Monday, October 11, 1999 in Bailey Funeral Home Haynesville, LA from 8a.m. until 12 noon. Then in the Ruple Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until time of services in the church.
Mr. Monzingo was a life-long resident of Claiborne Parish. He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII. After retiring from International Paper Company with 33 years of service, he worked for 17 years at Wal-Mart in Homer, LA; and was affectionately know as "Mr Monzo". He was a member of the Ruple Baptist Church in Haynesville, LA. He spent his life loving and caring for his family. One of his greatest pleasures was growing a garden each year and sharing it with his friends.
Mr. Monzingo is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Virginia M. Simms and her husband, Bill of Haynesville, LA; one son, Mr. James "Jimmy" Monzingo Jr. and wife Barbara of Homer, LA; one brother, Mr. Fleater G. Monzingo and his wife Irma of Post Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren, Lee, Jennifer, and Gracie Simms and John Walter Monzingo and his wife, Ashley.
Mr. Monzingo was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John and Uarda "Goree" Monzingo and his wife, Mary V. Monzingo in April of 1994.
Memorials or contributions may be made to a favorite charity or to the Ruple Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Tim Cole, Roger "Smiley" Pemberton, Jerry Thomas, Joe Lee, Sammy Gryder, Joey Lee and Bob Selph.
