Miss Mary Lou Moreland married Henry Kunkel at her parent's home on 21 May 1908 in the Bitter Creek community, Young County, Texas.

Services for Henry Kunkel, 60, were held at the Baptist Church in the Jean community officiated by Rev. Hubert Foust, pastor of the church, assisted by Revv. Dallas Lee, pastor of First Baptist Church in Graham and Rev. N.Z. Abbott, longtime Baptist circuit pastor.

Mr. Kunkel was a pioneer of Young County, he was born north of Olney. He received his early education at the Terrapin Community School north of Olney. Mr. Kunkel was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in 1898 and later joined the Baptist Church at Wheatland in 1909 and was a deacon of the Jean Baptist Church at the time of his death. He moved his family to the Indian Mound Community in 1918 and lived in that section for the past 27 years from the Bitter Creek Community.

Survived by his wife; one son - Vincent Kunkel; two daughters - Virgile Mae Brown and Vera Frances Tucker; his father - H.D. Kunkel; three brothers - Edwin Kunkel, Charles Kunkel, William Kunkel; five sisters - Lillie Miner, Emilie Field, Minnie Wilhelm, Clara Conrad, Emma Klenk; four grandchildren.
