She was born Feb. 14, 1915, in Auglaize County to Alveston and Florence Howell Basil, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 8, 1931, she married Virgil L. Bechdolt, who died Sept. 7, 1971.
Mrs. Bechdolt was a member of Westminster Christian United Church of Christ, Westminster, where she was a deaconess and a member of its women's fellowship. She enjoyed reading, her flower garden and listening to and watching the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State University Buckeyes football and basketball teams.
Survivors include a son, Roger (Rhea) Bechdolt, of Lima; five daughters, Donna Williams, Joyce (Fred) Taber, Carol (Don) Piehl, Teresa Bechdolt and Kelly (Kevin) Lawrence, all of Harrod; 12 grandchildren, Robert (Jane) Williams, Nelson (Patty) Williams, Virginia (Garis) Pugh, Michael (Linda) Taber, Tracy (Jay) Helser, Mark (Jan) Taber, Lorie (Mark) Van Dyke, Reneé Taber, Scott (Janie) Bechdolt, David (Sandy) Piehl, Nancy (Vic) Mertz and Emily Lawrence; and 17 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Fred, John and Floyd "Pete" Basil; two sisters, Donna Hazel Basil and Helen Basil; a great-granddaughter, Brittney Taber; and a son-in-law, Richard Williams.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Lewis Eastside Chapel. The Rev. Gale Gebhart will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster.
