Published in the Topeka State Press on September 12, 1895:

Atchison, Kansas, September 10th - "John N. Reynolds who acquired fame by running for the state senate while in the penitentiary and who wrote "Twin Hells," a book descriptive of the Kansas and Missouri penitentiaries, died in the state insane asylum at Osawatomie today.
Reynolds went insane in Arkansas two years ago while making a speech. He was 50 years old and had been a successful evangelist."
