She was the daughter of Frederick Pickle and Mary

Mrs. Mary Jane Sutton, 96, oldest resident of Califon, died this morning at her home on Bank street after an illness of several months. She was the widow of Lorenzo D. Sutton.

Mrs. Sutton was born Feb. 21, 1850, on a farm near Pottersville, which is now occupied by her nephew, Walter Pickell. She spent her entire life within a radius of five miles from her birthplace. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Pickell.

Mrs. Sutton moved to Califon from Farmersville 43 years ago. She was a member of Califon Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a charter member of Pride of Steward Council No. 118, Sons and Daughters of Liberty, of Califon.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by a son, David A. Sutton, of Califon; a daughter, Mrs. Winfred Cregar, of Califon; a grandson, Lorenzo D. Cregar, of Oldwick; a granddaughter, Mrs. Mark C. Waldron Sr., of Califon; and two great-grandchildren, Lois and Betty Jane Cregar, of Oldwick.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at her home, with the Rev. Bruce W. Hall officiating. Interment will be in Lower Valley Union cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Sutton, 96, who died Tuesday at her home, Bank street, Califon, were held yesterday from her residence, with the Rev. Bruce W. Hall, pastor of Califon and Fairmount Methodist Churches officiating. Interment was in Lower Valley Union cemetery, Califon. Mrs. Sutton, the widow of Lorenzo D. Sutton, was the oldest resident of Califon.
Pallbearers were: Lester M. Apgar, Thomas N. Neighbor, Edson Cregar, Raymond B. Apgar, George F. Poe, and Howard Philhower.
