Conley Wilbur Campbell,70, of Route 3, Thomasville, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at his son's home in Sophia, after being in declining health for seven months and seriously ill for two weeks.
He was born January 24, 1920, in Surry County, a son of George Butler and Maggie Hyatt Campbell. He lived in High Point for 55 years. He worked for Amos Hosiery for 39 years,retiring in 1985. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a Baptist. On June 2, 1940 he married Mildred Brown, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are three daughters, Shirley A. Tollison of Thomasville, Debra M. Hughes and Melanie R. Williams, both of High Point; six sons, Larry W. Campbell of Lexington, Rex A. Campbell of Thomasville,David T. Campbell and Ronald S. Campbell, both of Sophia, Edward W. Campbell and Kenneth R. Campbell, both of High Point;three sisters, Mary C. Reid of Archdale, Alvia Hutton of Kure Beach and Ozell March of Sophia; three brothers, Lester W. Campbell of Claremont, James E."Tommy" Campbell of Archdale and Maynard Hodge of High Point; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
