Mary I. Wheeler died Saturday, April 03, 2010. Mary was born in the small town of Sulphur Lick, KY on June 15, 1925 as Mary I. Bacon. She was the oldest of 5 children. She moved to Edmond in the mid-40s, where she met her first husband, Warner E. Pigg. They were married in the First Baptist Church of Edmond by Dr. M.E. Ramey. She and Warner had two children, Gary and Karen. Warner died in 1961. After the death of Warner, she went back to school, became a teacher, and taught for over 20 years in the Oklahoma City School District before she retired. She remarried in 1966 to Albert B. Wheeler, who later adopted both Gary and Karen. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edmond for close to 50 years. Mary is survived by one brother, Marshall; one sister, Betty; two children, Gary and Karen; four grandchildren: Shalona, Monica, Tamra, and Evan; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron.
