The son of John & Nancy (Stothard) Clevenger of Frederick Co VA, late of Stoney Creek, Randolph Co IN, Samuel married Mary B Truett on 19 Sep 1826 in Clinton Co OH, the daughter of William Charles & Martha (Johnson) Truitt of Frederick Co VA, late of Nettle Creek, Randolph o IN.

Will of Samuel Clevenger

"I, Samuel Clevenger of Randolph county and State of Indiana do make this my last Will and Testament as follows to-wit, including all of my Real Estate and personal property ~
1st. I want the funeral Expenses and all my just debts paid.
2nd. I want my daughter Martha Jane Dudley and John C. Clevenger & Thomas J. Clevenger, my two sons, to have one dollar each & no more & also Nancy Ann Fox and Sophia E. Swingley one dollar & no more. I will and bequeath to my daughter Sabre Minerva fifty dollars. I also will and bequeath to my daughter Eliza Catherine Amburn twenty five dollars. I also will and bequeath to my three daughters Hester Ellen & Sabress [Bess] Selina & Mary Etta Clevenger two thirds of my Real Estate that is Eighty acres subject to the widows dower to be divided Equally between them.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of November 1865.
I also appoint my son John C. Clevenger as Executor of the annexed will.

Be it Remembered that on the 29th day of November 1865 Cornelius V. Sanders one of the subscribing witnesses to the within and foregoing last will and Testament of Samuel B. Clevenger, late of said county, deceased, personally appeared before me, John B. Goodrich, Clk of the Court of Common Please at Randolph County in the State of Indiana, and being duly sworn by the Clerk of said Court upon his oath declared & Testified as follows, That is to say that on the 29th day of November 1865 he saw the said Samuel B. Clevenger sign his name to said instrument of writing as and for his last will and Testament and that this deponent at the same time heard the said Samuel B. Clevenger declare the said instrument in writing was at the same time & at the request of the said Samuel B. Clevenger and with his consent, attested and subscribed by the said Aaron Sanders & Cornelius V. Sanders in the presence of said Testator and in the presence of each other as subscribing witnesses thereto, and that the said Samuel B. Clevenger was at the time of the signing and subscribing of the said instrument in writing as aforesaid, of full age (that is more than twenty one years of age) and of sound & disposing mind and memory and not under any coercion or restraint as the said deponent verily believes & further deponent says not.

Sworn to and subscribed by the said Cornelius V. Sanders before me, John B. Goodrich Clerk of the said Court, at Winchester the 6th day of Dec 1865.
