Jacqueline J. "Jackie" Thayer, 78, Hays, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita

She was born July 30, 1931, in Woodston to Verl and Vera (Miller) Idelman.

She married Earl Thayer in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1976. She worked at Hays Good Samaritan Center as a supervisor of laundry and housekeeping, retiring in 2005 after 33 years.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Thayer and wife, Chris, Salina, and James Thayer and wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Debbie Ford, Hays; a sister, Carolyn Brummer, Plainville; six grandchildren, Darin Sheffer, Kenneth Walton, Andrew Thayer, Kellie Olson, Phillip Thayer and Heather Werth; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Danny Brummer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine; burial in Stockton City Cemetery.

There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Memorials are suggested to Big Brothers Big Sisters in care of the funeral home.
