Her mother died in 1865 and Mary Ellen's father then married Sarah J Welborn and they are the parents of Mary Ellen's half-siblings: Sophronia Isabella, Parthenia J, Jesse Edwin, Thomas Clarkson and Mattie B Swaim.
Mary Ellen married Joseph Oliver Newlin and they are the parents of Joseph Charles, James N, John A Logan, Mary Heston and Sarah Mahetabel "Hettie" Newlin.
Mary Ellen was admitted to the asylum in January 1900 and died there 24 years later of stomach cancer.
Unfortunately the very nice brass marker set by family has a transposed year of birth. She was born in 1858, not 1885.
