On December 8, 1857, Theodore Wilhelm was the first Gfeller child born in America. After a few years in Iowa, he went to Kansas. He married Clara Alleman on April 8, 1883 and they had 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Clara was born December 6,1861 and was the niece of Maria Alleman Gfeller, wife of Gottlieb. Will and his family returned to Iowa and made Alleman, Iowa their home and are thought to be buried in Alleman, Iowa. He died the day after his 72nd birthday December 9, 1929. Clara died September 12, 1946 at age 84.

Name: Theodore W Gfeller, a 72 yr. old gentleman born Dec. 8, 1857, who resided near Alleman, Ia., and died at the County Home in Lincoln twp., Polk Co., Iowa. He was married to Clara Gfeller and was a retired farmer.
He was treated for pneumonia from Dec. 1 to 9, 1929, when he succumbed to the infection.
Death Date: 9 Dec 1929
The informant was J. Walter Gfeller, Slater, Ia.
