Eldon was 90 years old, born June 25, 1918, in Strawn, Texas.
He lived and worked in that area until he left for military service with the U.S. Army, serving in Europe and North Africa in World War II. Returning from the war, he met and married his life partner, Oleta Shoemaker, on October 14, 1946, enjoying 62 years together.
Eldon was a production superintendent for Texas Pacific Oil Company, and he retired from Sun Oil Company in 1984. Eldon and Oleta moved to Oklahoma City to be with their children this summer, residing at the Statesman Club.
Private family services will be held at Buchanan Funeral Home, 8712 N. Council Road, on Tuesday, December 16, with visitation following from 5:00 to 6:30.
A memorial reception will also be held at the Statesman Club Retirement Community, 10401 Vineyard Blvd., on Wednesday, December 17, at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Frontier Hospice, 3908 N. Peniel, Bethany, OK, 73008.
Survivors include: his wife, Oleta; son Mike Bolen and wife, Ann; grandson Mark Mourer, wife Kelly and daughters Reese and Haley, of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Mary Ruth Thomason, of Granbury, Texas; and many dear friends and relatives in the West Texas area.
