Mary Jane Buckner Willis was the first child of John Buckner, Jr. and Nancy M. Foster Buckner. She married James Franklin (JF) Willis on 14 Jul 1872. She and JF had six children: Zelda, Margaretta, John William, Rufus Braxton, Zedic Hamilton and Thomas R. Family tradition is that Mary Jane died in childbirth at the birth of her last child, a girl, born sometime around 1885. She is buried in the cemetery where she and JF were long-time members and where he had been pastor on more than one occasion.
