AUSTIN-DAVIS WEDDING TUESDAY (source unknown, but most likely a Birmingham, Alabama newspaper - they married 3 Feb 1914)
A wedding of much interest was that of Miss Ethel Davis to William W. Austin, of Vicksburg, Miss., which took place Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the home of the bride's brother, Henry F. Davis.
The living room of the house was decorated over doors, windows and stairways with Southern smilax. The dining room was brightened with large vases filled with delicate flowers. The table cover was lace over pink with center vase of carnations and shaded pink candles.
In the living room was a bower of green and white carnations forming an altar, and among the green garlands above it shone two candlebras. Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Henry Davis sang "Because I Love You Dear," and the Lohrengrin Indian chorus was sung by a chorus of girls. At the first notes of Mendelssohn's Wedding March came the maid of honor, Miss Effie Davis, the bride's sister, who wore a dainty blue crepe de chine gown garnished with pearls and trimmings of Princess lace, and carried pink roses.
The flower girls, little Elizabeth Cowan, carrying a basket of sweet peas, in which was concealed the ring, followed Miss Davis.
The bride, wearing a pretty blue traveling suite and hat to match, carrying a shower bouquet of bride roses, entered with her brother Henry Davis [incomplete; the spelling is as printed]
