Aubrey Nichols "Bunny" Bilyeu passed away early Monday, April 8, 2002. He was born, September 10, 1910, in Stillwater, Okla. to George Peter and Clara Mae Nichols Bilyeu. He grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School in 1928. He studied civil engineering at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, where he was graduated with honors in 1932. Following graduation he was employed as a design engineer with the Gulf Oil Co. in Tulsa. In February 1942, he entered the U.S, Army and served as an operations and training staff officer in infantry artillery during World War II. He served in North Africa and Italy, attaining the rank of Major and being cited with four bronze star service medals. After four years of regular service, Mr. Bilyeu served 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. After the war he returned to Tulsa and to Gulf Oil with whom he worked until his retirement. In 1951, he married Evelyn Mae Hoskinson in Tulsa. He was with "his little Evelyn" until her death, January 1999. They moved from Tulsa to The Village in 1957. The Village was their home until 1998 when they became residents at the Noble Nursing Center, Noble, Okla. They were members of Britton Christian Church where Mr. Bilyeu was an elder, a church officer, and the teacher of an adult Sunday School class for more than 25 years. He is preceded in death by his wife and parents, his sister, Viva Camblin of Ponca City, and his brother, Jerry Bilyeu of Foxboro, Mass. He is survived by his son, Robert E. Small of Austin, Texas, his daughter, Joyce E. Brown and her husband, the Rev. Leslie C. Brown, of Norman, his grandson, Brian C. Brown, Oklahoma City, and his granddaughter, Stacy E. Brown, Norman.
