DEATH OF A CENTENARIAN MRS. ELIZABETH SCROGGINS, 102 years old, lacking one month, died at her home at Delba, Tuesday morning at 6 o'clock from the infirmities of old age. The funeral service was conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Bailey School House. Mrs. Scroggins was born in Scott county, Virginia, October 26, 1820. She had lived in the Delba community for something like forty years and was known to practically every one for miles around. She enjoyed the best of health up to a few months ago and lived alone for many years. During the world war she knitted socks for the soldiers and sent them to the Red Cross at Trenton. Her influence was always for the good and she will be greatly missed in the community. Several children, all of whom are grown, survive.

DELBA: MRS. ELIZABETH SCROGGINS died at her home here Tuesday, September 26,1922, from the effects of asthma. The funeral service was conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. J. A. Carpenter and burial followed in the cemetery at Bailey School House. Mrs. Scroggins was born in Scott county, Virginia, October 26, 1820. Her husband, W. J. Scroggins, died in 1881. She is survived by eight children; four boys, Ab of Quinlan, Texas; L. A. of West Texas; Jim of South Dakota; Grant of Delba, and four daughters, Mrs. Sis Ivy of Bailey, Oklahoma; Mrs. P. E. Cox of Randolph; Mrs. T. C. Stapp near Sulphur Springs; Mrs. Allen Morgan of Delba. Mrs. Scroggins has lived at Delba 43 years and had lived alone for the past 15 years. She was a good woman and was loved by all our citizens Hollis Scroggins and family and sister of Denison attended the funeral of their grandmother here Wednesday. She was 102 years of age.
