Moved from Deep Rock Meeting House to Friends Station, Lost Creek, TN in 1852 after birth of their first child, Mary B. Morgan. There they were engaged in the mercantile business and five more children were born. Sept 20, 1860, they started to Kansas as the war clouds of the rebellion gathered. They traveled by covered wagon until the Mississippi River then by boat to Leavenworth, KS. The trip was said to have been long and perilous, lasting more than 7 weeks. They first lived in the northeastern part of the state, Oskaloosa for approximately 18 months, then to a town called Springdale, Leavenworth County. In the spring of 1863 they then moved near Americus when John B. Morgan took up a homestead in the Neosho Valley. The family home burned in a fire in 1870 while the family was attending Cottonwood Quarterly Meeting. After the death of John B. Morgan in 1879, Abigail moved to Americus with her 4 youngest children. John B. was originally buried in Toldeo but his remains were later removed to Fruitland Cemetery, near the old homestead.
