Southwest Daily Times (Liberal KS) - August 13, 2000:
- M. Grant Hunter, 87, died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at the Lone Tree Retirement Community in Meade. He was born Oct. 8, 1912, to Jay and Evelyn (Talbott) Hunter in Sheridan County.
- He married Gertrude M. Tacha Sept. 2, 1933, in Oberlin. She survives. He was a retired employee of Panhandle Eastern and a resident of Meade since 1946. He was a member of The Odd Fellows Lodge and Lions Club, all of Meade. He was also an avid bowler for 50 years.
- Other survivors include two sons, Dean Hunter and wife, Phyllis, Dallas; and Dennis Hunter and wife, Debra, Bedford TX; two brothers, Vergil Hunter, Yakima WA; and Gerald Hunter, Napavine WA; five sisters, Myrtle Rocci, El Cerrito CA; Dora Smith, Auburn WA; Wilma Pearson, Yakima; Leone LaPointe, Hayward CA; and Veda Blankenship , Visalia CA; and six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
- Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church , Meade, with the Rev. Harry Fink presiding. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Jennings Cemetery in Jennings.

Grant was the second of 11 children born to Jay and Eva (Talbott) Hunter on their farm in Sheridan County, Kansas. The siblings who preceded him in death were older brother Orville (1911-1993); sister Mabel Viola (1914-1995) who married first Albert Emmanuel Broyles (1909-1942) and second Roy Gollobith; and brother Raymond (1916-1995).
