When Charles E. Crawford was born in April 1856 in Fayette City, Pennsylvania, his father, Daniel, was 25 and his mother, Frances, was 24.

He married Nancy E. Hanan on July 3, 1879. They had seven children in 20 years.

He died on February 27, 1915, in Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania, at the age of 58.

Charles' death was a strange accident that was ruled to be accidental. For some unknown reason (the coroner stated it must've been some type of unknown illness) he fell or laid upon the streetcar tracks. A large streetcar came down the tracks and could not or did not see Charles due to the sun shining into the streetcar conductor's eyes. The streetcar ran over Charles and he died from his internal injuries.
