Betty Jane Carpenter, 64, of 3968 Pine Ave., died at her home Saturday, April 6, 1996.
She was born in Erie Aug. 7, 1931, daughter of the late Oscar and Marie Westland Holquist.
A Millcreek High School and Indiana State College graduate, Mrs. Carpenter had also attended Edinboro College. At Indiana State, she earned a degree in music. She taught music in Millcreek schools.
Mrs. Carpenter had been the vice president of Carpenter Electric Supply Co., a family-owned business, for the past 32 years.
She enjoyed music, boating, camping and bowling. She was active in Girl Scout Troop 123 and Cub Scout Pack 21.
Survivors include her husband, Paul L. Carpenter, whom she married on Jan. 15, 1955; a daughter, Debby Albert of Erie and her husband, Thomas Albert; a son, Gary P. Carpenter of Erie and his wife, Connie Carpenter; and two granddaughters, Lisa M. and Sara L. Carpenter, both of Erie.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th St., Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend a funeral service there Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Revs. Gerald W. and Janet R. Duggins of Harborcreek Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
