Jean was the third of five children born to Ernest Herbert Boswell and Ada Blanche Myers Boswell. Jean was born in Horsepen Cove, Tazewell County, Virginia. She lived most of her early life in Bluefield, Mercer County, West Virginia, where she met and married Jack Cooper on January 13, 1940. They moved to Dundalk, Maryland around 1950. Jean and Jack were the parents of three children. Jean passed away after a very lengthy illness on February 20, 1977.
