LEOMINSTER Charlene A. (Plamondon) Shores, 72 of Leominster, MA died Tuesday April 13,2010 at her home.
She was born on May 12,1937 in Leominster, MA, the daughter of Arthur and Leona (Fournier) Plamondon. She attended school in Fitchburg, MA and was a graduate of Fitchburg High School Class of 1955. She worked as an administrator at Ft. Devens from 1955 until 1967, where she had met the love of her life, her late husband Major Charles V. Shores, Jr. who passed away in 1978. Charlene went back to school and graduated from Mt. Wachusett Community College in 1993 with her Associates Degree in Business. She later went to work at the former Safety Fund Bank and Mechanics Bank both in Fitchburg, retiring in 1995. Charlene was a volunteer at Our Lady of the Lake Church business office, and at the Johnny Appleseed School Library. She was also a Brownie Leader and a member of the Senior bowling League at Mason Bowling Alley. Charlene was an avid reader and was very active in the Literary Club for over 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church.
Charlene's life was centered on her family and friends. Her most enjoyable years were those spent raising her children. Most recently she was a devoted "Memere" to her three grandchildren. Charlene will always be remembered for her fun-loving spirit and warm friendship.
She is survived by her son, Charles V. Shores III, of Clinton, MA; her daughter, Stephanie S. and her husband John Lambert of Holden,MA; her step-sons: Dwayne Shores and his wife Debbie of Largo Florida, and Charles David Shores in Hebron, Nebraska; a step-daughter, Deborah Shores; one sister, Paulette Cormier and her husband Omer in Chesapeake, Virginia; 3 grandchildren: Caroline, Christophe and Abigail; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Rene Plamondon.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 with Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., Leominster, MA. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg,MA. Calling hours will be on Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church Memorial Fund,1400 Main St., Leominster, MA 01453. The Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA is directing the arrangements.
