Staff Sgt. U.S. Army WWII, 7 years of service, 1941- 1948. Detective on Odessa Police Force, Police Chief in Alvin, Texas. He was always in service to our country and state of Texas. His nicknames were "Tiny", "Fats", and "Sarge".

After his dad died, Tiny bought his mom a house in Star, Texas so she could raise his siblings. His father had been a crop farmer living in a rental home. He joined the army to make payments on the home.

He married Carmel Duncan while in the service, and they had six children together. Not the 12 she wanted, but they got half way there. They lived in Camp Hood barracks (now Fort Hood) when Joe was a baby, and Carmel lived with their Gr Aunt in Killeen with little Joe also.

After Tiny got out of the Army, they bought a home with land in Mills County. They then oold that and moved back into the home he had bought for his mom in Star, remodeling it and adding a bathroom.

When the big drought hit Mills County, they moved to Odessa, Texas to work for family already there, where Olan could help build housing for the booming oil business in Odessa. Olan always built or remodeled houses for them over the years. Carmel was always by his side whenever possible. Later on, Olan joined the police force in Odessa, and Carmel was home to raise the children. She had originally wanted 12 children, but life had her settle on a mere six boys. Olan was a member of the Odessa, Tx. Police Department for 14 years, the last 7 as Captain of Detectives. He resigned from the Odessa Police force in February of 1970 to become Police Chief at Alvin, Texas

After resigning from the Alvin Police Dept., they returned to the old family home in Star, Texas, with Olan and Carmel remodeling and enlarging the home in Star again, adding more rooms and bathrooms. Tiny died of a heart attack while remodeling this home, and his boys and brothers finished it.
