Charles "Ben" HERENDEEN, 85, R.R. 2, Akron, died at 3 a.m. today at his home of a heart attack. He had been in ill health for the past six months. His death was unexpected. Born Dec. 11, 1878 in Kosciusko county, he ws the son of Warren and Martha Jane BALL HERENDEEN. His marriage was Dec. 11, 1909 in Akron to Bessie SAUSAMAN. Mrs. Herendeen died Sunday morning at Woodlawn hospital--just three days before her husband's death. Mr. Herendeen was a member of the Akron Church of God and the Modern Woodmen lodge. He was a retired farmer and had resided in the Akron area all his life. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frances EILER, Akron; two sons, Harry [HERENDEEN], South Pines, S.C. and Charles [HERENDEEN], Mishawaka; five grandchildren. A son and 10 brothers and sisters preceded in death. There will be double services for Mr. and Mrs. Herendeen at 2 p.m. Friday in the Akron Church of God with the Rev. Harold CONRAD officiating. Burials will be in the Akron cemetery. Friends may call at the Sheetz funeral home in Akron after 2 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday and at the church one hour before services.
