Stella P. Bolich, 88, of Mowry, passed away peacefully late Thursday night at the home of her daughter.
Born in Fountain Springs, Feb. 14, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John and Pearl Rhodes Quick.
Stella attended Butler Township High School.
At the age of 16, she started working in the garment industry as a sewing machine operator, a career that spanned more than 43 years. She retired from Stanley Dress Manufacturing Co., Girardville.
Stella was a member of the Independent Ladies Garment Workers Union. She attended the Church of the Nazarene, Lavelle.
Her greatest love was her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She loved working in her garden and was well-known for her dahlias.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin L. Bolich, who passed away February 1986; son, Larry Bolich, 1978; daughter, Lisa Francis, 1994; brothers, Clair, Emerson, John, Leslie, Ross and Wilmer Quick; and sisters, Ann Athow and Violet Helwig.
Surviving are a son, Gary Bolich, husband of Connie, Lavelle; a daughter, Holly, wife of Mark Herbst, Hummelstown; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives were invited to attend a funeral service at Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating was the Rev. David W. Grant, pastor of the Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ, Ashland. Interment in Christ's Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, had charge of arrangements.
