Thomas Ross Wilson, Sr. was born December 16, 1857, at Salt Lake City, Utah. His father was James Thomas Wilson and his mother was Isabella Ross. His siblings were James Brigham, twin Jared, David John, Isabella Ross, and William Walter. Jared died at birth.
He was married December 1, l88l to Susanna Musser Sheets. Their children were: Thomas Ross, Ada, Ruby, Clifford, Irma, Rula, and Isabella.
Thomas moved his family from Salt Lake City to Teton Valley, arriving April 4, 1889. They first homesteaded 3/4 mile north of Driggs, and moved to Alta 3 years later to the place where Janice Waddell Wilson now lives. By profession, he was a teacher, having been a member of the first graduating class of the University of Deseret (University of Utah) Normal Course in 1876. He taught school for several years in Utah, and again in Teton Valley, with as many as 46 students ages 6 to 16 in a class. He also served as Game Warden, Postmaster, taxidermist, and practical doctor. He served for four terms from 1904 to 1916 in the Wyoming Legislature. He held several different positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, both in the wards and stake.
