Olive E. Whitehead of Fort Collins passed away April 25, 2010 at Poudre Valley Hospital. She was born February 14, 1922 in Fort Collins to Dorence G. and Mona Fern Morris. Olive lived in Fort Collins her entire life, and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1940 and attended Colorado A & M for one year prior to marrying her lifelong love, Warren C. Whitehead on February 22, 1947. They shared 60 beautiful years together. They enjoyed their six children, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

After graduating from FCHS and during her early years of marriage, Olive worked at Bake's Grocery and also delivered papers for the Fort Collins Coloradoan. The majority of her life however was spent taking care of her large family. She always made sure the kids got to paper routes, music lessons, to the library and to sporting events. Olive and Warren's home was always open to family and friends of all the kids. Sometimes even after years, the kid's friends would stop to check in at the "headquarters". She made everyone feel welcome.

Olive was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Women's Circle. After retirement, she and Warren traveled extensively in their motor home including trips to California, Sturgis, South Dakota (on the motorcycle) and Nashville, Tennessee. Olive loved to cook, keep track of her family, country music and of course the Denver Broncos. She especially loved watching her family succeed in whatever they did.

She will be remembered as kind hearted and loving, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Olive lost her beloved Warren in 2007 and is survived by her children, Denny Whitehead and his wife Jan Thayer of Fort Collins, Robena Cunningham and her husband Ken of Windsor, Brady Whitehead and his wife Carmen of Green River, Wyoming, Tom Whitehead and his wife Nina of Fort Collins, Senator Bruce Whitehead and his wife Becca of Hesperus and Dwight Whitehead and his fiancé Jenny Marcotte of Glenwood Springs; a sister-in-law Mildred Morris of Greeley; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Warren; her parents; her brothers Don and Bob Morris; and her sister Donnie Bauer.

The family would like to thank all of the volunteers at Meals on Wheels, the caregivers at Good Samaritan, the doctors and staff of the Tele Mark Unit at Poudre Valley Hospital, her longtime friend and caregiver Stacie Fetter from Interim Healthcare, and most especially her lifelong friends Jack and Frances Miller for their care and love.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at10:00 a.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
