Sarah Elizabeth (Phillips) Benton Reeder, was the daughter of Henderson Bates Phillips and Mary Jane Russell.

She first married George Washington Benton on February 25, 1892 in Eureka Springs, Carroll County, Arkansas. The became the parents of six children:
Hugh Benton
Ause Clay Benton
Mary Lee Benton
Charley Benton
Hobson Benton
Paul Benton

George died in 1904 and she then married John S. Reeder on September 26, 1905 in Carroll County, Arkansas. They had one son,
William "Bill" Reeder.

Sometime in the 1930s The Benton/Reeder family relocated to the Pacific Northwest, primarily in Washington.

She died after a lengthy illness and her death was reported in the "Port Townsend Leader", Thur. May 27, 1954, pg 8, col. 1:

@Funeral Services held Saturday for Sarah Reeder
"Funeral services were held at Carroll's Mortuary Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Sarah Reeder, 84 years old, whose death occurred May 19 at the hospital here after five and a half months confinement. Mrs. Reeder had been a resident here the past five and a half years and had made a home with her son, A. C. Benton, 439 Fillmore Street.
"She was born October 11, 1869, at Green Forest, Arkansas, and was the widow of George Washington Benton, who died in December, 1905.
"The Reverend James Simpson of the First Presbyterian Church conducted the funeral service and Lillian Snyder sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Dear to the Heart of God". Interment was in Laurel Grove Cemetery, pallbearers including E. J. Grady, Charles Hoyt, Robert Canterbury, and Robert Denard.
"Mrs. Reeder is survived by four sons, A. C. Benton, Port Townsend; Paul Benton, Portland; Charley Benton, Willington, Colo., and William Reeder, Seattle; one sister Alice Boby, Boise, Oklahoma; a brother Henderson Phillips, Green Forest; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
