Dodge County Citizen 28 Apr 1864:
MASONIC FUNERAL -- The funeral of Robert L. Bassett, recent Master of the Lodge of Masons in this city, took place at his residence last Sunday. There were delegations from Fox Lake, Lowell and Horicon, and although the weather was stormy and disagreeable a large concourse of brothers, relatives and friends followed the remains to the grave. Rev. J. J. Miter made some excellent remarks at the house, after which the exercises were conducted under the ancient rules of the Masonic Order. He leaves a wife and one child who mourn the loss of a kind husband and father, and a large circle of friends the absence of a highly respectable and beloved citizen and brother.
