William Jefferson Sanders was born Feb. 6, 1859, near Maidsville, W Virginia and departed this life Jan. 16, 1956 in Creston. He was the son of John and Sarah Sanders who preceded him in death, together with two brothers Marshall and Mark Sanders and one sister Etta Ours.

On Dec 13, 1879, he was united In marriage to Lucy Tapp and to this union four children were born. One child died in infancy. Those surviving are Harvey James Sanders, Ella Worthlngton, and Bertie Sanders who cared for her father in the home.

The family moved to Iowa in 1895 and to Lenox in 1907, where Mrs. Sanders passed away on Sept. 25, 1946. Also surviving are six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

William Sanders, 96, died at the home of his son in Creston, Monday evening. His home was in Lenox. He was a retired farmed and had lived in this vicinity many years. Survivors: 1 son, Harvey, of Creston; 2 daughters, Mrs Ella Worthington, Chicago, Ill., Miss Bertie Sanders at home and 1 niece, Mrs Charles Wurster of Lenox. His wife preceded him in death. Services were Wednesday at Bender Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Simonton officiating. Burial in the Lenox Cemetery.
