The funeral for James B. Winningham, 83, of 1223 NE Steele Court, Roseburg, a long-time resident of the Jacksonville area, who died Monday in a Roseburg hospital, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Conger-Morris downtown chapel. Committal will follow in the Logtown Cemetery. The Rev. Earl Best will officiate with Conger-Morris downtown chapel in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Winningham was born April 21, 1892, on Trail Creek. On Dec. 31, 1915, in Jacksonville, he married the former Mamie Watkins, who died in 1974. He had lived in the Jacksonville area his entire life, working for the Forest Service, retiring after 20 years, then working for the Jackson County Road Department before moving to the Roseburg area 16 months ago. Mr. Winningham was a member of the Upper Applegate Grange.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hibbs, Roseburg; one sister, Mrs. Ella Russell, Medford; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death.

Active pallbearers will include Gary Gilman, Paul Jahn, Johnny Winningham, Fred Offenbacher, Arnold Brown and Jerry Winningham. Those who wish may pay their respects until 8:30 o'clock tonight in the Conger-Morris downtown chapel.
