Mrs. Mize, 86, Dies Thursday

Mrs. Amanda Catherine Mize, pioneer and beloved citizen, of Rome, died at her residence last night at 7:30 o'clock, following a heart attack. Born in 1854, she celebrated her 86th birthday anniversary last March 16.

Mrs. Mize was the widow of the late Calvin N. Mize, who was prominiently identified with the Rome Railway & Light Company. He preceded her in death in 1918. A devoted Christian, Mrs. Mize had been a member of the Baptist church for many years.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. A. F. Logan, Mrs. John Dunford, of Rome: Mrs. J. B. Hunt, of Rockmart; two sons, A.L., of Rome; E.E. of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Albert Prewett, of Houston, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home this afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Rev. Roy Hulan, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Six grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
