Rex was the son of Buford and Sue Hawk. He married Margaret Ann Black in 1938 and they were the parents of one son: William Beauford.

Mr. Rex Bert Hawk, 88, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005 at a local nursing facility. He was a native of Warren, Ark., and had been a resident of the Brewton area since 1944, coming from Elizabeth, New Jersey. Before his retirement, he was vice-president of the treating plant at T.R. Miller Mill Company for a number of years. He was a member of the Brewton Rotary Club, and served as executive secretary of Southern Pressure Treating Association. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Brewton where he served as an elder.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hawk of Brewton; a son, Rev. William Beauford "Bill (Joyce) Hawk of Templeton, Calif.; his twin sister, Geraldine Holmes of Athens, Texas; four grandchildren, Benjamin Hawk, Darren Hawk, Jina Hawk and Dana Hawk, and one great-grandson, Levi Hawk.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 28, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bert Hawk Memorial Benevolence Fund at Bank Trust.
