He was a proud veteran of the Army Air Force during World War II. In 1941 Mr. Guidry met and married his wife, Frances Marie Merchant, and they had three children. He was retired from Exxon as a mechanical supervisor after 45 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and loved woodworking, metalworking, gardening, and barbequing. He was a jack of all trades. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Guidry is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Percy Guidry, sister, Mary Lou LaVergne, and son-in-law, Dalton Hillburn. He is survived by his son, Cecil Guidry Jr. and wife, Diane, of Baytown; daughters, Rita Hillburn and Marie Guidry both of Baytown; Frances, the mother of his children; sister, Gertrude Alpha; grandchildren, Trey Guidry and wife, Ann, Monica Winton, Kim Trchalek and husband, Daryl, and Suzanne Holland and husband, Richey; great grandchildren, Megan and Tristan Guidry, Bradley and Madelyn Lewis, Christopher Shelton, Collin, Kaden, and Camron Trchalek, and Dalton and Karli Holland; and special friend, Elaine Robinson and family.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Crespo & Jirrels Chapel with Deacon John Singer officiating. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers are Trey Guidry, Richey Holland, Daryl Trchalek, Tim Guidry, Brent Guidry, Bill Kelley, and Christopher Shelton.
