ROCK HILL (Special) - Mrs. Betty Harden Pittman, 29, wife of Alva M. Pittman, Jr., of Salisbury N.C. died Friday night at the York County Hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident earlier Friday night on the Charlotte highway.
Mrs. Pittman was born and reared in Blacksburg, daughter of Mrs. Mattie Harden of Blacksburg and the late Hambright Harden. She was married in 1949 to Alva M. Pittman, Jr., of Rock Hill and they moved from Rock Hill to Salisbury two months ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rock Hill.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Edwin G. Pittman, Sara Ellen Pittman and Alva M. Pittman, III; her mother, three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Adams of Rock Hill, Mrs. Beatrice Gray of Blacksburg and Mrs. Nora Lee Oran of Logansport, Ind., and two brothers, Carl Harden of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Bill Garden of Charlotte.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday from the chapel of the Bass Funeral Home by the Rev. Doyle Chatham. Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Blacksburg.
