Richard Thomas "Dick" Doan (born 24 May 1837 in Pendleton County, Kentucky; died 5 Oct 1900, in Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky; buried at Beaver Baptist Church Cemetery), son of Lewis Doan (born circa 1802 in Kentucky; died 1862 in Kentucky) and Mary Asbury Doan, married Anna Eliza Beckett (born 1838; died 8 Apr 1901; buried at Beaver Baptist Church Cemetery), daughter of John W. Beckett and Alice Hickman, on 13 Sep 1858, in Harrison County, Kentucky.

They had eight children named Jesse Newton, John McDonald, William Henry, Benjamin Grant, Robert Morton, Ruth Ellen, David Lawson and Lucy, all born in Harrison County, Kentucky.

Richard Thomas was a farmer, and they were lifelong members of Beaver Baptist Church in Cynthiana, Kentucky, for ''which they donated the land for both the church and cemetery. Services are still held in the building."
