Lillie Ellen Barker died Monday, September 16, 2002. She was born on September 5, 1913, to Sally and Ira Thomas Dodds in Clayton, NM. She married Sharon Leslie Barker on July 29, 1929. They lived and farmed around Clayton for several years. They moved to Amarillo, Texas, where Lillie worked for J.C. Penney's and several other businesses. Lillie and Sharon retired in Rio Rancho, NM, in 1991. Sharon preceded her in death in 2001.
She is survived by six children, Tommye Gayler of Fort Collins, CO; Russell Barker of Albuquerque, NM; Gerald Barker of Greeley, CO; Sharlene Chisum of Johnstown, CO; Betty Genereuf of Oxnard Beach, FL, and Terry Barker of Lebanon, TN.
She had 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She has a sister, Abbie Butt, who lives in Clayton, NM. She has several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2002, in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Avenue, SE. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park with Rusty Barker, Ronald Barker, Chris Barker, Brandon McGuire, Steve Genereux and Leslie Chisum serving as casket bearers. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is entrusted to the care of Lillie.
