Flora was born on June 4; some records say she was born in 1882, others in 1883; her gravestone says 1883. She was born in Algonquin, McHenry County, Illinois, USA to Peter Bruce "Peter" Stewart and the former Mary S. Sterling. Flora was the 5th of eight children born to Peter and Mary. Flora lived in Antelope County, Nebraska during the 1900 and 1910 US federal censuses; in 1900 she lives with her parents and in 1910 she is living with her brother George. Flora is married in and lives in Custer County from the time of her marriage in 1917 until she passes away. How Flora comes to be in South Dakota is a mystery to me but Samuel has relatives living in Antelope County so perhaps that is how they met.
When Samuel and Flora marry, she becomes step-mother to Samuel and Olive's five living children. In May 1917, Samuel's seven year old daughter Mabel passes away; she is probably living with Samuel's sister Leota Coe Butler in Ewing County, Nebraska at the time. On 20 Dec 1918, Flora and Samuel welcome their one child together, Stewart Phillip "Stewart" Coe (his burial location is unknown to me at this time). By the 1920 US federal census, Samuel's four living children are living with him, Flora and Stewart.
Samuel predeceases Flora when he passes away in 1944 and Flora survives Samuel by ~22 years. As a widow, Flora is blessed with watching her children marry and having grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She, Samuel and Olive are buried in Custer Cemetery, Custer, South Dakota.
