After coming to Texas and settling in Ballinger, he entered the Grocery business and later branched out into the General Mercantile business. He moved to Schleicher County in 1900 and lived on the ranch now owned by Carros Evans. He ranched here for five years and sold out. Mr. Barbee was a well-known figure on the streets of Paint Rock for the past several years as he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Wood at Paint Rock.
