Deceased Name: Asael "Ace" LeRoy Allen

Ace passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2000. He was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Hyrum, Utah, to Victor J. and Harriet Letitia Dunn Allen. After graduating from South Cache High School in 1943, he served in World War II as a member of Company G 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment in France. He played football for the Army after the war. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1950 with a degree in geology. While there, he played football for the "Runnin' Utes."

Ace married Leone Garratt on March 20, 1948, in Salt Lake. They had three children.

The family lived in Modesto, Calif. and Pocatello, Idaho. Leone died in September, 1983. Ace retired in 1987 from FMC after 36 years of service. He moved to Salt Lake after his retirement.

Dad enjoyed watching sports, fishing, camping, dancing, and spent some time tying flies and playing poker. He was a sweetheart.

Ace is survived by his three children, David J (Mulvane, KS), Carol Sue (Boise, Idaho), and Barbara Renee (Sandy, Utah); brothers Victor Jay (Reno, Nev.) and LeMont D (Pacheco, Calif.), sister Mary Nielsen (Hyrum, Utah), nieces, nephews and many long time friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sisters Letitia and "Netta."

The family is very grateful for the kindness and care Dad received from the staff at Atria Crosslands Retirement Community.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 21, at noon in the Hyrum City Cemetery, Hyrum, Utah. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary.
