KINGSVILLE — Dorothea Hennigan Bortles, age 83, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Francis D. and Sylvia (Bean) Hennigan. She married Russell Clifton Bortles of Linesville, Pa. on Sept. 5, 1953.
She attended Edgewood High School and was a 1945 graduate of Ashtabula High School, where she was head majorette and cheerleader. She enjoyed water-skiing, eating out and being "Aunt Do Do" to all her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a telephone operator for AT&T and Inland Container.
She is survived by her sisters, Madonna McClain of Alpine, Ca. and Sylvia Wyman of Glasgow, Ky.; and her brothers, Francis (Virginia) Hennigan of Ashtabula and Roy D. (Kathryn) Hennigan of Edgewater, Fla.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 20th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
No formal services will be held. A private family burial will take place in Edgewood Cemetery in July 2010.
Donations to Hospice of the Western Reserve would be appreciated as an alternative to flowers.
