MEBOURNE — John Edwin Sackett, 82, a retired Air Force chief master sergeant, died Sunday, July 16, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa.
Mr. Sackett was born in Mendon, N.Y. He came to Brevard County in 1962 from Germany.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Sackett was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4643 in Satellite Beach and American Legion Post 163 and the Elks Lodge, both in Melbourne.
Survivors include his sons, Carl "Fred" Sackett of Oscoda, Mich., and Gary Sackett of Cape Canaveral; brothers, Bob Sackett and Les Sackett, both of New York; and sister, Dorothy Lay of Fairport, N.Y.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davis Funeral Home in Melbourne. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay.
