CHARLES DIXSON

After an extended illness with a complication of diseases, Charles Dixson passed away at his home in Lucas, Iowa, on Wednesday, November 8th, 1916, at the age of 57 years, 9 months and 19 days.

Funeral services were held at the home on Thursday, conducted by Rev. M. S. Clark, after which interment took place in the Fry Hill Cemetery.

Charles Dixson was born in Fairfield, Iowa, on January 19th, 1859, and grew to manhood in Jefferson county. On October 24th, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Iva Mitchell. To this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters, three of whom are living, Mrs. Etta Nelson, of Chariton, and James and Raymond, of Lucas. The youngest daughter died in infancy in 1897.

Mr. Dixson and family moved to Lucas in 1895 and he has since been a resident of that place. He was highly regarded by the people of that community, who knew his many excellent traits of character. He was quiet in his demeanor but ever kind to others.

He had been confined to his bed most of the time the past year. During this time the neighbors were very attentive, assisting the family in caring for him, and in his last moments he expressed his gratefulness to them, and said that while they were doing this they were strewing flowers along his pathway, which was better than laying them on his grave after he was gone from earth.

He leaves, besides the wife and children, a host of friends to mourn his departure, who will extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones.
