A homemaker and resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 4:12 a.m. Sunday, May 7, 2000. She was 92. Visiting at Desselle Funeral Home from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Religious services at Second Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Leo D. Cyrus. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by five daughters, Mable Taylor, Lucille B. Allen, Mary L. Houston and Lizzie West, all of Baton Rouge, and Pearl Taylor, Detroit; three sons, Henry Allen Jr., Norfolk, Va., and Charles Islam and James Allen, both of Baton Rouge; 44 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Charlotte Harris-Dodson/Dotson; a daughter Viola Allen-Leblanc, a son Earl Bailey Allen; two brothers James Dotson/Dodson and Emile one sister Louise Dotson/Dodson-Graham.
