McCAULEY, Sister Mary Elizabeth, nee Gish, of Roanoke, Ill., quietly and peacefully departed this life Feb. 2, 1905, aged 69 years, 9 months and 15 days. She was born in Roanoke county, Virginia. She spent more than forty years a faithful member of the Panther Creek church. She came to Illinois in the fall of 1851 with her parents, who drove through from Virginia with team. She was married to John McCauley, Nov. 1, 1855. To this union were born seven children. Three preceded her to the spirit world, leaving a faithful husband, three sons and one daughter. Funeral services at the Christian church in Roanoke, by Eld. J. H. Moore, of Elgin, Ill., from Gen. 35: 18, 19, 20. Subject, “Rachel’s Tomb,” after which the body was laid to rest in the Roanoke cemetery. Deceased was a sister of Eld. James R. Gish.
