DETROIT LAKES, Minn-Joel Peter Modey of Callaway, Minn., who would have been 98 next October, died Monday in his home in Callaway.
The funeral will be at 2 Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Jack E. Treheway officiating. Donehower-Lance Funeral Home is in charge.
Born in Langaskog, Sweden, Oct. 8, 1858m Mr. Modey come to Becker County in 1881 and had resided in this vicinity ever since. He married Caroline Johnson April 4, 1889.
They farmed in Richwood Township until 1925, when they retired to town. Mr. Modey had been active in Upsala Church, which he served as treasurer many years, and also had served on the school board. His wife died Dec. 1, 1955.
He leaves two sons, Harry of Callaway and Gordon of Omega, Minn.; two daughters, Mrs. Chris (Amy) Sorenson, 1013 11th Ave. N., Fargo, and Jennie of Callaway; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
