Hilda E. Asumendi, 74, of Athens and Springfield, formerly of Lincoln, died at 2:27 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 18, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Ralph Zetzl O.F.M. officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Friday at Kerrigan Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Asumendi was a registered nurse at the former St. Clara's Hospital in Lincoln and later at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. After 30 years of nursing, she retired in 1985.

She was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

She was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Agassiz, British Columbia, to Charles and Catherine (Foley) Anderson.

Surviving are one daughter, Christine Wiebke of Springfield; five sisters, Isabelle Anderson of Springfield, Gladys Edwards of Lincoln, Doreen Dorgan of Middletown, Eva Lorenzi of Springfield and Jean Anderson of Springfield; and one brother, Thomas Anderson of Stevensville, Mich.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

She was a Samaritan at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the donor's choice.
