HAMILTON TOWNSHIP New Jersey 1954—Trenton Times: Police Officer Dies Suddenly—Walter W. Metzger, a member of the Hamilton Township police department for 25 years, died yesterday from a heart attack at St Francis Hospital. His home was at 1457 Hamilton Avenue.

Mr Metzger was stricken at the home of his daughter, Mrs James McCulloch, of 4 Berkshire Avenue, Hamilton Township. He had worked the Midnight to 8 am shift yesterday.

He was a member of True Craftsman lodge 202 AF&AM; Scottish Rite, Crescent Temple, Trenton Forest 4 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and Local 66 Patrolmen's Benevolent Association.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs May Diamond Metzger; a son J. Russell Metzger of El Paso, Texas; two daughters, Mrs James McCulloch and Miss Gloria R. Metzger; a sister, Mrs J Russell Gunning; three brothers, Harry, Leroy, and Russell Metzger.

The Funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 pm from the Fouress Funeral Home, 324 Center Street. Services will be held at 2 in St Paul's Episcopal Church, with the Rev Ware King officiating. Internment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call tomorrow after 3 pm.

A resolution was adopted expressing the committee's condolences to the family of the late Walter Metzger. May Harvey S. Moore Jr, head of the police department, and was very well liked by the force and the people of the township.
